Elizabeth Warren Doubles Down On Supporting Open Borders

Presidential candidate and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren
doubled-down on Monday regarding her stance that crossing the border
illegally should be decriminalized, reports LifeZette.

When asked if she supports repealing Section 1325 of the immigration
code, Sen. Warren responded, "I am...I think that the whole notion of
criminalizing the approach to coming across the border without
documentation is not making anybody any safer. We just need to be in a
different position on this."

That portion of the immigration code reads:

Section 1325 sets forth criminal offenses relating to (1) improper entry
into the United States by an alien, (2) entry into marriage for the
purpose of evading immigration laws, and (3) establishing a commercial
enterprise for the purpose of evading immigration laws. The Illegal
Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) amended 8
U.S.C. § 1325 to provide that an alien apprehended while entering or
attempting to enter the United States at a time or place other than as
designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty.

“It’s really important on immigration that we concentrate our resources
on the people who pose threats to us, and that’s not children,” the
potential 2020 Democratic nominee said. “It’s not mamas fleeing terror
from gangs down in Central America. It’s not people trying to build a
life who have family here.”


Warren's comments come just weeks after she, along with much of the rest
of the Democratic presidential field, expressed support for open
borders. Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has adopted the
position.

Why do you want closed borders? The US has had open or nearly open borders
for almost all of it's history. The hue and cry for "border security" is
recent.

Again, you are really wacko, and ignorant about history.

In 1904 when my grandmother immigrated, she was checked
closely to insure she was a good addition to the country.
She and all the others had to be healthy, had to be able
to be educated and learn, had to have assets to get to where
she stated she was going.
Between 1880 and 1900 for many years 15,000 to 29,000
of her fellow countrymen immigrated into the USA,
then new immigration laws were enacted.
After that, the quota for her old country was only 2,377 a year.

Did you see them doing mass protests or storming the border?
No, they respected the country and it's decisions.

The requirements at Ellis Island were quite minimal. and came hundreds of
years after this country was first settled. So out of 400 years of
history, less than 100 years are there significant restrictions, and it's
only the tRump years that they want to close the border entirely.

Baxter just keeps lying!!!

Neither POTUS Trump, nor any leading Republicans have
done anything to change the fact that we legally
allow over 1 million immigrants a year.

Yes, we welcome people to come legally.

It's the additional, approaching 1 million a year,
from the south of us, that will be a real problem
for the next downturn of our economy.
They will be competing with our citizens for what
will be rare jobs.
